Brisbane Marathon festival Sun, 4th Aug 2013
Get set to run the streets of Brisbane City on the first Sunday in August 2013!
21 years ago, Queenslanders witnessed something special, when the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games Marathon was held on the streets of Brisbane.
Running icon, Robert de Castella took the gold medal in a true display of Aussie determination and grit. Deek overcame Tanzanian runner Ikangaa to win in a time of 2:09:18. A mere 12 seconds separated the two over the marathon distance and was earmarked one of the most exciting spectacles in history.
This year it's your turn to make history by participating in Brisbane's premiere marathon event in its 21st year!
