October 2009 saw the opening of the redeveloped King George Square in the heart of Brisbane. Adjoining Brisbane City Hall and the underground King George Square busway station, the Square has been revitalised to provide Brisbanites with a world-class public space.
The redevelopment reflects the history of Brisbane and celebrates the Square’s new role as the new centrepiece for Brisbane - not only as a transit hub but a place for celebration and civic ceremonies; a true destination for the people of Brisbane.
And now this Brisbane landmark includes a Groove Train café, restaurant and bar. Celebrating a grand opening in March 2010, the Groove Train at King George Square is the perfect place to get together and enjoy a meal, catch up for a drink or grab a coffee.
The interior design is modern and stylish, yet welcoming, with a very ‘groovy’ retro edge. The palette is chocolate and orange, creating a relaxed and stylish vibe, and you will quickly lose yourself in the atmosphere that the Groove Train has become famous for.
Enjoy a warm welcome from competent staff that will expertly describe and recommend choices from the extensive menu. The cuisine is a mix of Mediterranean and modern Australian inspired dishes with the wood-fired pizza oven offering a great range of gourmet pizzas. And don’t forget to finish your meal with an award-winning Veneziano coffee (roasted right here in West End).
