) NOOSA LONGWEEKEND 2010
18-27 June, 2010
With its long beaches, fantastic surf, café society, gorgeous boutiques and scrumptious restaurants, Noosa Australia is justifiably famous as a great relaxed holiday destination. Once a year Noosa on the Sunshine Coast also becomes a hub for culture and the arts.
The Noosa Longweekend was started by Noosa resident, playwright David Williamson and his wife Kristin along with other friends. They wanted to create a Noosa event that would put it at the forefront of cultural excellence. So, the Noosa Long weekend was born.
The festival is all about bringing culture to Noosa – celebrating the diversity that is the arts through the best Noosa food, opera, drama, film and fashion. Noosa venues host thought provoking discussions among top thinkers and authors, to challenge the mind and create debate.
Over 10 long days and nights in June the most talented actors, authors, playwrights, directors, speakers and artists from across Australia hold court at many of the Sunshine Coast restaurants, galleries and public spaces.

) OPEN COCKPIT WEEKEND
3-4 JULY 2010
Open Cockpit Weekend is QAM's annual fundraising event which is held on the middle weekend of the Queensland July school holidays. As the name suggests, the cockpits of several aircraft are opened for public inspection. Museum visitors are invited to actually sit in the cockpits of selected aircraft. Some of the larger aircraft, for example our 1937 vintage Douglas DC-3, are also opened up so that visitors can experience an aisle that goes uphill, sit in the cabin and see what air travel was like in days gone by.
In addition to QAM's own aircraft, we occasionally host visits by military helicopters. At past events we have been visited by RAN Fleet Air Arm Seahawk helicopters and the Navy's Squirrel helicopter display team.
Other kindred organisations that have participated in previous Open Cockpit Weekends include:
223 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets
Vietnam Veterans Association Australia - Sunshine Coast Sub- Branch
MacArthur Museum Brisbane
RFDS Queensland Section
Angel Flight Australia
Defence Force Recruiting
Refreshments are available on site. Typically these include, sausage sizzle, tea and coffee, cakes and soft drinks.
The Queensland Air Museum is located at Caloundra Airport on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, approximately 100 km north of Brisbane.
2010 Admission Charges
Adult $ 11.00
Concession $ 8.00
Child $ 7.00
Family $ 25.00
On both days of OCW 2010 the Museum will open one hour earlier at 9:00am.
Closing time is still 4:00pm.
